Contract awarded for subsea cabling installation for the Mindanao-Visayas Interconnection Project
French cable giant Nexans have been awarded a contract to install subsea cabling for the Mindanao-Visayas Interconnection Project based in the Philippines.
The contract, awarded by the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines, will develop a unified connection between Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao power lines with Nexans to deliver the full turnkey solution to manufacture and install a 350 kV HVDC submarine cable.
The project is expected to be completed in 2020 and will provide a more reliable power source for the country.
